Why would somebody do this... to top it all off he went from manual TO autotragic transmission. My faith in humanity just took another hit...

Well, you'll be happy to know the site itself is actually down (hence, the Google cache link).

It's not as daft as it sounds. Early E-Types only had a four-speed manual box, of which first was just to get you rolling, and fourth was geared for cruising. Almost all of the time in hard driving you'll be in second or third. Might as well have an auto, for all the gear-changing you'll actually be doing. The alternative is a much more modern five or six speed manual box with closer ratios.

The engine seems like a reasonable enough choice to me. Plenty of torque, as it should have.

Well that's weird... And me being the resident lover of small black Fords (really? Lincoln? Come on now). I'm sure it's a C4 or at best C6 trans, that means it's either a 3 or 4 speed auto.

I'm all for an auto in a daily driver, but you don't buy this kind of car to be an auto. And that bigger hood bulge looks ridiculous. can someone remind this guy it's a Jaaaaag, he seems to have forgotten.

I believe the C4 was 3 speed and the C6 was 4 speed.

Though now that i just did a quick google, it looks like the first gen C6 trans was a 3 speed, and 2nd and 3rd gen were 4 speeds.

My 68 Montego with a 302 V8 has the C4. Been working great for me.
